His victory in Spa-Francorchamps in pouring rain signaled the beginning of one of the most successful careers in Formula One.

Schumacher went on to win 91 races and seven world championships, marks that remained for more than ten years.
When the Global Icons: Europe Online auction opens on January 23, the Benetton is anticipated to sell for more than £7.38 million.
“This is unquestionably one of the most famous cars in F1 history,” stated Yves Boitel of Broad Arrow Auctions.

“One that marked the end of the glorious era of manual gearboxes at the pinnacle of motorsport, as well as the beginning of one of the greatest F1 careers of all time.”
Since sustaining a serious brain injury while skiing in 2013, Schumacher, 57, has not been seen.
Despite wearing a ski helmet, he suffered a severe head injury when he slipped and struck his head on a rock while traversing an off-piste region.
The world champion was taken to Grenoble Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries, after doctors stated he would have probably died if he hadn’t been wearing the protective gear.

Following what was termed as a “traumatic brain injury,” he was placed in a medically induced coma.
In June 2014, the former Mercedes and Ferrari driver was revived from a coma and allowed to return to his Gland, Switzerland, home for rehabilitation.
Just over a year after he departed from Formula One in 2012, he was involved in a horrific ski accident.
