Arizona entered Holt’s recruitment late as teams like Kentucky and Alabama led the initial charge.

When the Wildcats brought Holt in for a visit,  they were viewed as a long shot, but things changed quickly following his trip in the fall. As Kentucky fell out of contention, Arizona skyrocketed up the leaderboard and took control as the early signing period came and went. Since then, Arizona has had to compete with a strong push from Alabama for Holt, but ultimately, the Wildcats got this recruitment and the commitment across the finish line.

Lloyd and the Wildcats are in the midst of an incredible 2025-26 season. Freshman guard Brayden Burries is having one of the best seasons within a completely loaded rookie class.

Holt will get to Tucson and look to follow in Burries’ footsteps. Holt is an elite two-way impact player with a competitive mindset, toughness, and versatility.

Holt is a massive recruitment win for Lloyd. Brandon Chappell led the charge for Holt and developed a strong relationship with Holt and the family which played a big role in his confidence to move out west.

He is projected to be one of the most impactful freshmen in the country next season.

Arizona’s 2026 recruiting class now ranks No. 27 overall in the country, joining versatile forward Holmes.

247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finklestein on Holt:

Holt is physically imposing on the perimeter with a terrific combination of length, strength, athleticism, speed, and a wealth of intangibles. He’s competitive, plays hard, and imposes his will on both ends of the floor. He also has good perimeter size at 6-foot-5-plus with a 6-foot-9 wingspan.

He’s a downhill attacker who plays through contact, has decisive burst on his way to the rim, and is an efficient finisher with both hands (68% at the rim in 3SSB play). He came up the ranks as a natural wing, but is working to evolve into more of a true guard. His ball-screen reads have started to improve (2.8 assists vs. 1.8 turnovers) as too has his handle, although still less comfortable in the open court with his left. His shooting may be his biggest swing skill. He has a wide-base and notable dip in his left shoulder, but there’s nonetheless been definite growth. The biggest issue is that he hunts them a little too much, presumably in an attempt to show his improvements, instead of getting downhill at every opportunity (29% 3pt and 82% FT).

Defensively, he can be a true standout, utilizing his physical tools to make plays, guard multiple positions, and then rising up for rebounds (7.4 per game). He has great anticipation in passing lanes (2.5 steals) and has an advanced understanding of how to be physical on the ball while simultaneously showing his hands.

The bottom line is that Holt is one of the most consistently impactful players in high school basketball and has the mentality and physical tools to have a high long-term floor. His ceiling will be dictated by the continued progression of his guard skills, along with his ability to maintain his efficiency while stretching his game.
