According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chicago Bears are re-signing backup quarterback Case Keenum to a two-year contract with $5.5 million, with a max value of $8 million.
The 38-year-old Keenum was a great fit for Chicago’s young quarterback room in 2025, providing veteran guidance for QB1 Caleb Williams and second-stringer Tyson Bagent.
Keenum signed a one-year contract last offseason with the Bears worth $2,250,000, making Chicago his 11th stop on his NFL journey. So this is a nice bump and a little security for the 2013 UDFA from the University of Houston.
He hasn’t taken a snap in a regular-season game since 2023, but last preseason, he completed 8 of 10 passes for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns.
He’s likely back to be QB3 again, but with some trade rumors surrounding Bagent just a couple of weeks ago, Keenum’s return does give the Bears some insurance if a deal for Bagent were to present itself.
