Offensive tackle Trent Brown and the Houston Texans reached agreement Thursday on a one-year extension worth up to $7 million, agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The agreement comes after the Texans had parted ways with two offensive linemen in trades. Houston agreed to trade starting right tackle Tytus Howard to the Cleveland Browns and also has agreed to send Juice Scruggs to the Detroit Lions in the trade to acquire running back David Montgomery.
Both trades can’t be finalized until next Wednesday at 4 p.m., the start of the 2026 league year.
Brown (6-foot-8, 380 pounds) was a spot starter for the Texans last season but was effective once he was healthy enough to play in Week 10 (knee).
He started seven games and during Weeks 10-16 allowed the sixth-lowest pressure rate (7.1%) among right tackles with at least 200 pass blocking reps according to Next Gen Stats.
A seventh-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2015, the 32-year-old Brown has appeared in 110 games, with 103 starts, in 11 seasons.
He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2019 while playing for the Raiders.
